Thinking about the future
The future cannot be predicted – but it can be approached systematically. That is the essence of strategic #Foresight. It’s about identifying developments at an early stage, understanding interdependencies, and making possible futures visible. Foresight is practical, adaptable, and aimed at organizations that want to make better decisions today – based on knowledge about tomorrow.
Foresight draws on many tools from #futuresstudies: megatrends, scenarios, wildcards, or Delphi studies. Unlike academically oriented futures research, however, Foresight focuses on concrete applicability – in strategy, innovation, and transformation.
A unique approach emerges through #speculativeDesign: It’s not just about models of thought, but also about tangible futures – stories, images, artifacts that make alternative paths experiential. This combination of analytical thinking and creative access sharpens the view for spaces of possibility. Because the future is never linear – it is polyphonic, complex, and often paradoxical.
In my formats, we work with #systemsThinking to identify connections, uncover blind spots, and understand dynamics. The goal is not to find the one correct future – but to create #orientation that helps organizations endure uncertainty, actively shape change, and make clear-headed decisions.
